A Few Thoughts

We've been roasting pumpkin seeds, making applesauce, (both are so much better than store bought) and enjoying the last warm days before winter sets in. We've had beautiful, unseasonably warm weather, but it will change, the winds will come, and the cold nights will set in. I thought I'd share a couple photos of what we still have growing around here.

As I look at these flowers, I'm reminded that God grows my garden, I just tend it.
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: and yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Matthew 6:28-29

My mother told me that this was her mother's favorite verse, and she used to quote it often. Raising 5 children during the depression, I'm sure she took much comfort in it. I pray that you will too.
Blessings,
Marcia

  1. Hi Marcia,

Well if I had that many people living in this house I wouldn't give up a shower either!! But it's only us three and we have two other showers.

Your flowers are beautiful! Isn't it lovely to still have things blooming now. I have a few that are holding on.

  4. Lovely flowers! We have had a frost, so everything has died. I went outside today and raked up more leaves and rearranged some pumpkins and decorative corn (what we used to call Indian Corn, but that is no longer polictally correct). I planted two pine shrubs in the planter by my mailbox....because that is the only thing that will survive our Minnesota winters! :)
I love the changing seasons....no complaints from me.
Check up on me this winter....I'm sure I will have some frosty temps to report. :)

  6. Marcia, what a beautiful verse to go along with your flowers. I love flowers and plant many every spring, but most are gone now.
As I read this, I thought that flowers fade, but God's promises live on. I love what you said about tending Gods garden.

  7. That is a beautiful verse.

We have had warm weather too, but your attitude about it is much better than mine. :) I do love the warm weather, but cooler fall weather is my favorite and I have been looking so forward to it after a HOT summer.

    Beautiful flowers, too!
