Silver Sunday Frames and Frills

I had so much fun last week being a part of Silver Sunday hosted by Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal. I'm back again this week and I've found a few more silver things around my house. I've been polishing more than ever too. The photo above is from the 1930's of a Scandinavian church. It came from my great-great aunt, who traveled around the world in the late 30's after retiring from teaching. The frame is from Michael's.A collection of frames with vintage photos. The couple in the small frame on the right is my parents when they were young. In the large frame is a photo of my grandmother's family when she was a child. I wear more silver jewelry than gold, and I've included some of my costume stuff. It is shiny silver though :-)I had an uncle that was in the Air Force when I was a child. He was stationed in Europe, and my parents asked him to get charms for me from some of the countries he visited. Later, they put them on this charm bracelet, along with some I'd collected here in the states.
This butter dish was another one of my parents 25th anniversary gifts. The coasters I picked up at a vintage shop, and I can't remember where the little jar with the silver lid came from. The little hurricane lamp in the back is one I've had as long as I can remember. It was one of a pair, but I gave the other one to my friend when we were little.

Have a Blessed Sunday!
Marcia

Your vintage family pictures are a perfect fit for the silver frames. I am feeling the need to thrift for some more silver. That is a beautiful display. I find I like it tarnished too, so not polishing.
Your little huricane is so cute. That pattern is Moss Rose. I collected the huricanes along with the dishes for a long time. I have given the dishes to my DIL with the 6 kids....with five girls I figured they would have lots of tea parties and showers etc. to use them. I think I sold my huricanes...will have to look around to see. Yours looks so cute sitting there amongst your silver.

Oh so pretty frames.
I can remember my mother have some of the coasters with the silver rim. In fact I saw two at the thrift store this week and didn't pick them up because funds were short. I wonder if they will still be there Wednesday which is my pay day. I hope so.

I am partial to silver over gold; always have been. There is such a luster to it. I even like the tarnished stuff when it's tarnished in the right amount.

You have some very, very pretty things, Marcia!

Marcia, Love the silver. I had my silver tea set out for ages until my 3 year old decided it was his tea set and played with it. Now it is tarnishing in storage. Once he's out of the stage then I'll take it out again. By the way do you polish with a cleaner or do you do the boiling water, foil, baking powder trick?

Jenny said...

That's a lovely collection of silver. I hope you enjoy polishing it all, it was a real tradition when I was a girl to polish the family treasures with my gran.
