We didn't make it to the beach last week, although we thought we might get down there. It just didn't work out. We started scraping, sanding and painting the trim on the outside of our house and ran out of week before we ran out of work :-) That doesn't stop us from "Putting on the beach" around here though. The little photos above were made out of some flash cards I have from my homeschooling supply.
I was given some teal/turquoise leather couches a couple of years ago. Almost new, and in great shape, so I couldn't turn them down. I've been trying to decorate around them ever since! The pillows change with the seasons. This is our simple little living room.
I tried to get a photo of the picture over our couch, but it just wouldn't turn out too well. Here it is anyway.
Here's a few views of my mantel. This is how we bring the beach to the desert :-)
Some little seashells added to some twigs and thrown in a vase.
The beach I grew up playing at made from an old postcard (Manhattan Beach, CA), and our family when they were all a little younger :-)
I hope you're all having a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Marcia

Hi Marcia! Hope you get the work done and get down to the beach asap!
Love the beachy touches in your living room!
Have a great week!
Christine
Those sofas are perfect for beach themed decor!!!! How often do you have to paint your house exterior in the desert?
I like the color of the sofas and the sea theme works so well with it.
Hi Marcia,
I like how you've decorated with all the beach touches. Turquoise couches seem perfect for a beachy look! I had to laugh at the comment you left. I think the Griswalls from Vacation did go to Wally World or something close. In our little town of 4000 people, Super Wal-Mart is our main shopping choice. I have even accidentally written checks to them that said Wally World and they worked~ LOL!
Have a nice weekend girlfriend,
Cindy
Marcia- I love your beach decor!! I miss going to the beach sometimes... I spent every summer at Myrtle Beach when I was young, and I would love to go back someday, but with all our animals- *sigh*... and I don't think they would let us bring our sheep and chickens to the condo with us! LOL
So sorry you didn't make it last week... sounds like you've been very busy!
I love it too!!!!
Your family must feel so "at home" when they are at home!
& now the beach will be calling your name even more! : )
I hope you have a wonderful time when you go!
and the week is always shorter than the work, unfortunately.
I hope you have a great day!

Hi Marcia! Oh, love your beachyness in your home! Love the art over your sofa and shells. I love shells. Being we are just a couple of blocks from the beach - with my white buttermilk complexion ;) - I have plenty of shells.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I love your living room, too! The colors are so great and peaceful. I really like your couches!
Dave was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and of course we had a list of "jobs" and a list of fun stuff. The jobs took way more time that we had anticipated, but it's always nice to get all of those things done.
Have a great week!
I can't think of more perfect couches for a beach theme than what you have. I love this room. I love the simple elegance of beachy anything. Nature and style all mixed together.
I love your beachy mantel. The idea of tying shells on the twigs with string, very clever. Love that. And using the flash cards I love that Idea. Post card from where you were playing as a child, that is so great. I think your family room is charming, it speaks of your love for family.
What pretty colors to have to bring the beach feeling into your home! I just love it, and the decorations you have added with it look so nice! Come say hi :D
I wanted to do a beach theme in the guest bathroom, but since it is sort of a catchall for everything I don't know what to do with, it's just a hodge podge of everything. Love those last frames that look like weathered wood. The colors are so muted and lovely. Hope you are having a great day :) Tammy
I love the beach look! You've done a great job, Marcia! I saw somewhere where someone collected sand from every beach they visited and put it in a mason jar with an old tag attached labeling where it was from. She had it nestled among pictures of her family from the beach and it was darling! I love that decor too!
Congratulations to your boys on their graduations too! I know you must be so proud, as a homeschooling mom! :)
Hugs,
Tammy
It looks lovely to me. Thank you for taking the time to leave an encouraging comment on my blog. It's wonderful to hear from someone who has been there.

I miss the beach living here in Utah. I grew up on Pismo and Avila beaches up in San Luis Obispo County. Maybe I should bring the beach to me too! Easier than driving 12 hours. Mimi
what beautiful colours, very soothing and congratulations on your sons graduations!
thanks for visiting me at Life on the Rock -http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/anitaK/
I love your beach themed living room! If I didn't have a log cabin, I always dreamed of a beach cottage and decorating it w/ some beach scene pictures like you did! Love the shells you had in the jar too!
I think you did a great job of "beaching it up" at home. Those teal couches are in style now. That seems to be a popular color for beach decorating.
I've collected a few "beachy" things and have wanted to do my back patio for a long time. Maybe I will get inspired this summer.
Sorry I haven't been around much. Lots going on and can't seem to catch up.
Thanks so much for stopping by and giving me some encouragement! I sure needed it! Looks like you have been busy busy decorating and it's sure paying off! Everything is looking very "beachy" and beautiful.
oh that is fabulous! LOVE The decor, especially the postcard framed. What a wonderful treasure.
What a gorgeous coloured couch! Love your picture and beachyness. I also love the way you've displayed the twigs and shells in the white jug - looks wonderful.
