Learning to Surf...

Yes, I believe I have become a once a month blogger, lol.
Thank you to the friends that have continued to check on me.

My husband has been home the past 3 weeks, due to a knee injury.
I love having him at home, but I know he's had quite a bit of pain.
We got away for a couple of days, and of course, headed down to the beach.

Just 4 kids this time...it seems kind of weird, but we had a great time.
Hubby is bit limited in mobility right now, but it didn't stop him
from trying to get his kiddos to surf....

and then he went to work on me :)

No, I've never surfed before. I grew up body surfing,
but somewhere between having a surfing hubby and 6 kids to keep track of,
I haven't even done much of that in recent years.
He was planning on changing that....

first I put on a wetsuit, and then we we went out...

I actually got up a couple of times...briefly...
so briefly that my daughter didn't get photos of me in the upright position, lol.
but I can say, I had a blast and can't wait until we go again!!!

Maybe you really can teach an old dog new tricks!

I don't think I'll ever go out again without a wetsuit though,
it made such a difference!!

Now if we can just get hubby's knee back to normal :)
Thank you RussMyHoney....you are the best!!

  7. How fun and the beach looks wonderful. I am having such a beach hankering I have been dreaming of it. I need a trip like that. It looks like a wonderful day. I hope your hubby's knee gets better soon.
Isn't it weird when you go from six to 4? I think that is a hard part in some ways and nice in others.
I hope you are having a nice school year so far.

  16. Looks like it was a lovely day. Hope hubby's knee is healing. I had surgery on my knee when I was 8th grade and it just has never been the same so I am very, very careful with both my knees -- no sudden swivels or turns. :/ Best wishes, Tammy

I'm so impressed that he was able to get you out there trying to surf. Good for you. Being a Long Beach girl, I surfed some in my younger days...never good on the board, but loved to body surf. You two look great and what a beautiful day at the beach.
I've been enjoying your beachy pins too.

  20. Woohoo! You go girl! Sorry about the hubby's knee but it doesn't look like it's held him back too much! I've gone back to work so I'm not on here much at all but when I do I head on over to see what you've been up to & find that you're kinda like me ... very busy, just not much blogging. Merry Christmas to you & your my friend ... Hang ten! LOL

  21. You're so brave. I'm proud of you just for trying. All my kids are avid surfers, we live next to two of the best surf spots in So. Cal and I still won't go surfing. Ah well, like you said, maybe you can still teach an old dog new tricks. We'll see this summer when it warms up about 30 degrees!
