My Advocate
I sinned. And straightway, posthaste, Satan flew
Before the presence of the most High God,
And made a railing accusation there.
He said, "This soul, this thing of clay and sod,
Has sinned. 'Tis true that he has named Thy Name,
But I demand his death, for Thou hast said,
'The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Shall not
Thy sentence be fulfilled? Is justice dead?
Send now this wretched sinner to his doom.
What other thing can righteous ruler do?"
And thus he did accuse me day and night,
And every word he spoke, O God, was true!
Then quickly One rose up from God's right hand,
Before whose glory angels veiled their eyes.
He spoke, "Each jot and tittle of the law
Must be fulfilled; the guilty sinner dies!
But wait--suppose his guilt were all transferred
To Me, and that I paid his penalty!
Behold My hands, My side, My feet! One day
I was made sin for him, and died that he
Might be presented faultless at Thy throne!"
And Satan fled away. Full well he knew
That he could not prevail against such love,
For every word my dear Lord spoke was true!

I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!
Revelation 1:18a
Thank you Jesus, for willingly giving up your life and dying a horrible death on a cruel Roman cross, to pay the penalty for my sins, so that I can live!

Marcia

I love the tulips with the little cross made from sticks. It is just beautiful, and it has given me an idea for a temporary one for our sweet dog Angel. Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you for that, Marcia...and I love your cross!
ReplyDeleteA very wonderful post for this very special day.
ReplyDeleteFun that we used the same text. I happen to love it. There is a scene in Sight and Sound Theatre's Behold the Lamb where Jesus takes the keys from Satan and locks him in H*ll. It gets the crowd on their feet!

ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Easter, and hope you have a great week.
Take care. :)
Your words today were so perfect in reflecting the true meaning of the day. Thank you for sharing them with us. I especially loved the cross of twigs, so simple, yet so moving. It is the simplest things that can be the most profound. Thank you for also sharing your comments with me. Of course I have always been proud of my daughter in both academics and her music, but these are the moments that are not learned from a book but rather the heart. Thank you.I hope that you and your family shared a blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteAmen. How very blessed we are! xo Jill

ReplyDeleteI have never read "My Advocate" before. Wish I had had it Sunday to be read before dinner. Really made me think more about what Easter means to me.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I loved your Easter Parade and the pictures of your precious little ones. I was just telling my DIL how I loved each stage as my boys grew up. (Well, maybe not JR Hi) But I really loved the baby stage.
Hi Marcia,
