I promised photos from the weekend wedding we attended. The beautiful bride was my cousin's daughter. I was maid of honor in her parent's wedding :-) Although the wedding took place at 6:00pm, it was still pretty warm. Southern California is in the midst of a heat wave, just like so much of the country.
The Russian Submarine
The Promenade Deck. There are signs all along here that say, Be Careful, Uneven Floor.
The Veranda Deck, where the wedding took place, with a view of Long Beach. I told my kids that the round building at the right is where I saw Elvis Presley in concert.
They weren't impressed either :-)
The new Mr. and Mrs.
Our Family
Some former guests :-)
The hand beaded dress! My cousin made this dress. She's a very talented seamstress. Many friends worked on the beading.
Dancing with the man of my dreams :-)
Isn't he handsome?
And another one of my favorite guys.
One of the old deck chairs. Wouldn't we all love to have one of these?
And one of the old signs. I decided to show it in black and white, because I think if there had been a photo back in the day, that's how it would've been.
One last photo of The Grand Lady at night.
Congratulations Nikki and Chris. We love you!
Blessings,
Marcia
Oh my that is gorgeous! We have never visited the Queen Mary. I want to go next time we are down there. But somehow, we always spend every second at Disneyland and never go see this lovely ship. The wedding looks lovely and you have such a gorgeous family. Glad you had fun!

Hi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment about my sister, and thank you for your prayers. She is doing a little better. Chemo is just a long, hard road, but she is an amazingly strong and determined gilr!!! And, it has been inspiring to see her faith in action!

Oh Marcia, I love this. Not only reminescent to see pictures of the Queen Mary, but also to see pictures of your beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband both make a very handsome couple.
Great place for a wedding.
FYI...When they first brought the Queen Mary to Long Beach, they auctioned off some of the contents. My Mom bought 2 twin mattresses and some other things, I can't remember. But, I slept on one matress and used it for my oldest son for a long time. Ewww! What was I thinking? Wonder who and how many had slept there. She had it cleaned, but, I'm just saying...
Back to wedding. Beautiful bride and wedding dress. Loved the hand beading.
Yes, the man of your dreams is pretty dreamy and you look adorable dancing together. That dress is to die for. Really unique. What a fun idea for a wedding!

What a beautiful wedding Marcia! You and your honey are a lovely couple as well. I haven't been on the Queen Mary since I was a little girl. It was nice seeing all the pictures and knowing she is being preserved still. Lovely blog! Susan:)

Looks like so much fun. We were there last May (2009). Got on a cruise ship right next door. The Russian sub was kind of neat. Mimi
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful wedding. Everything is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMarcia, I just had to write and share with you. I live in TN.but on a visit to my daughter and family in southern NV. last year, they took me to southern CA. and we spent the night on the Queen Mary. It in so beautiful! But what made it even more special was that during WWII, when it was used as a military transport ship,my father made the trip to England with the army on that very ship! Can't tell you how it felt to walk on that ship, knowing my dad,who is no longer with me, walked those very steps. Thanks for posting the pictures and bringing back such sweet memories! Evonne
