Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful week and finding a way to stay cool. We headed down to the beach yesterday for one of our favorite versions of cooler weather. The smell of the ocean is such a sweet scent. (I wish it could be bottled up and brought home). My kiddos don't agree, but for us older folk, it's inhale, exhale, love, love...etc.,etc. It was overcast when we got there, but quickly burned off to what my hubby and I thought was perfect weather. However, our children were raised in the desert, and several of them said they were cold! Imagine that :-) My husband looked at me and asked how two beach bums could have raised desert rats!
The tide had been high shortly before we arrived, and sea shells were everywhere. We collected quite a few. My children have learned that mom wants the "big" white ones, down by the water, and I prefer ones that aren't broken :-) "I found a good one Mom." is a phrase I hear often. There were no sand crabs around, which was a disappointment to the twins. I'm not sure why that was, but surfing lessons with daddy more than made up for it.
I had to do this token "blog name in sand" that I've seen all over blogland, but I was a bit too close to the surf, and almost didn't get the photo before the tide rushed in. That's what happens when you choose a long blog name :-)
We saw these guys head out to help someone right after I took the photo. I'm always glad they're close by.
My camera doesn't have a very good zoom, but that guy out there in the surf...he's mine :-) That's RussMyHoney, and boy, did he have a great time!
We all had a great time.
Two of my kids couldn't make it, so we'd like to go back soon.
I hope you're enjoying your week.
Blessings,
I hope you're enjoying your week.
Blessings,
Marcia
Hi Marcia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful time together creating precious family memories!
I only wish it was warmer in N. Ireland and we could go to the coast about a half hour drive from our home. Today it's about 64 and drizzling so your kids would really feel cold here!lol!
Hope you all get back soon! BTW I love the sand tag!
Christine
Hi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteWhat cute family pics!
Your twins are so adorable!
And what a nice way to spend the day right along the ocean. I love that smell too! We don't have any oceans around here but their is lot's of water and now you got me wanting to find some quickly!
I can almost smell the ocean right through your blog! hehe.
HAGD,
Cindy
What great photos of a great day out. One full of memories by the looks of it. Your family always looks like they are happy being together.

Oh, that does look fun!!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was dissappointed how cold it was when she went to the beach on the Pacific. She said it was really beautiful though!
I am glad you had such a great day!
Beach bums and dessert rats - : )

How fun...living near the beach must be an awesome and more relaxing life than in the middle of a huge city.
ReplyDeleteWe got to go for two days to the beach here in Texas...so relaxing...we hadn't been in five years! It is a six hour drive.
We also went into the stores on the strand and your "color" was everywhere...I thought of you!! Candles, glass..etc. everywhere!! It is a relaxing color and I am enjoying adding it to parts of my house...even if I don't live near the beach!
Great pictures how much fun!!!
Very nice, it looks like a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh about the boys being cold. It drops to 80 during the day and we go for the sweatshirts.
It is always so nice to get away.
Thanks for sharing.
It is so great seeing your family enjoying the beach. I'm with you and Russ. Overcast, cloudy, windy, cold...it doesn't matter, I love the beach. How great to see Russ doing (and doing it well, it seems) what he loves.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the blog in the sand thing or I would have done it too last week when we were there.
Your kids seem to be right at home in the water even if it was cold.
Hey Marcia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time! I have only been to the ocean a few times and I agree with you on the smells. I would love to go sometime again. I don't swim, but I'd love to just relax and gather shells.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Nancy
When I was in Southern California..., I didn't expect the water to be that cold (too cold for me).
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun memories you are making for your family...:)
We use to live a couple of miles from the beach (central coast of calif), but every time we went I froze to death!! It can be VERY Cold!!! I would bundle my girls up...lol. We have moved to the Cental Valley now where it is very HOT! On these hot days I do miss the foggy beach (sometimes)..:)
Isn't the beach fabulous. I am still not over my day at the beach either...
ReplyDeleteOh, Marcia- I'm green with envy! I would love to see the beach again... it's been many years since I went to the ocean, but I can still remember that wonderful smell you're talking about. If you figure out how to bottle it up, I'll be your first customer. *giggle*
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a wonderful time!
Looks like lots of fun. So important to make some memories. They grow up too quick Mimi
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time. We could have hit the lake beaches in Michigan but my kids weren't even interested. And my body rejects too much sun, especially close to water. My days of fun in the sun are over. :( Hot and humid here. Finally had to get dressed today and head out for some groceries. Hope you are having a great day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Marcia!!! I never tried surfing....would have loved to!
ReplyDeleteThat photo of your blog name in the sand will be an upcoming blog banner right??!!
Those are great photos...I just love going to the beach too. We don't do it enough though, even though my boys now live in San Diego!Everyone looked like they had a great time:)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing...I love Newport Beach! {I did not realized you lived around there..if it is the Newport Beach I am thinking of..in Calf..L.A. area}

Oh your kids are so cute! Little surfer kids- love it!
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way about the smell of the ocean. We don't live any where near the ocean, but I visited often. In the spring, after a long, hard, cold winter, arriving at the beach is definitely a moment to take a big sniff and get filled up with that wonderful, beach, happy smell!
Thanks for your sweet comment on my anniversary post. It was with great humility that I posted those 80's pictures, but I thought- Oh well...that is who we were. :)
Have a great weekend,
Joyce
Oh how fun!! I wish I was at the beach right now. I would love to learn to surf but I am too much of a fraidy cat. But your boys look like they had a blast!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us on this lovely trip - i miss the ocean, and would love to have a bottle of this smell! Your family is beautiful!
