Simple Gift Bag

I've been cutting up old jeans, hoping to make a denim quilt one day.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remembered seeing denim pants
used as gift bags. I decided to sew some up.
However, denim isn't the most *Christmaslike" kind of fabric.
I found some old fabric; I think I might've bought it the first year I was married.
I know, it's silly that I kept it, but I don't have lots of Christmas fabric, so I'd stashed it away.
I lined my little denim bag with it. It was very easy to do.
Don't look too closely at the sewing though!
Adding a bow...and now we have a homemade Christmas bag.
Great for putting a little gift or a few goodies in :-)
I made this one quickly, to use for a gift. I think it probably took 15 or 20 minutes, including cutting.
It's reversible too :-) You don't have to line them,
and any fabric and ribbon would work.
A little applique or embroidery on the front would be pretty too.
I'm joining Joyce at Friday Pretties,
Jami at  Air Your Laundry Friday,
and Donna at Saturday Night Special
Have a wonderful weekend my friends!
Blessings,
Marcia

  6. What a cute idea. With all your kids I bet you have a few blue jeans to recycle. I was a teen in the 70's and levi's were a fashion staple. I still like my 501's. I especially like the material you used for the lining. The stitching just adds to it's charm :D

    Take good care,

    Karen

  9. What a great idea, do you know how many bags of old worn out jeans I have in my shed, because I have been saving them to make a jean quilt.
That is so cute. I love it with the Christmas fabric on top too. I like the simple look with just the jean and the red ribbon too.
    What a great idea!

  10. These are too cute. I'm calling for my girls right this minute to show them. I know they will want to make some.

Homemade bread is the same way here too. If you don't get any while it's warm you've missed out.

  21. Hi Marcia! I am finally back in blogland and visiting again. Now I come back to see you are being so creative. I love this bag! What a great thing to give as the wrapping is a gift in itself. I see someone using it afterwards to keep things in a bathroom or closet or drawer or well...anywhere.

  24. Hi Marcia,

What a great - and original idea. And what very gorgeous ribbon you have in your stash. I was just thinking today that I need some thicker ribbon. I couldn't think of a project to use it for, I just wanted some so this gives me a perfect excuse!!

  28. Hi Marcia,
what a good idea! I will file it so I can use it later some times! Right now I'm sewing a Christmas gift for my daughter, a bag to hang her national costume in with her name emroidered and a lot of decoration on it! I will show it on my blog later on!

How nice to see that you attend my Christmas calendar! And thanks for the tip about how to get access to You Tube films by turning of the translator - I have written about it to day, and also added the adwise under the translator on my blog!

I wish you a nice day!

    Hugs,
    Cathrine :-)

  36. Smart recycle! Cute too.
I saw someone on t.v. sew up the leg holes and stuff with fiberfil, then sew up the top for a huge blue jean pillow!

  37. Love It! I have saved every "cut off" leg from every pair of jeans since I can remember. Now I know what to do with them:)
