Fall Mantel

Thank you everyone, for your sweet comments on my last post. You're all so kind :-)
I must confess that the large vase of apples wasn't mine. I took the photo at my friend Angela's house; the same Angela with the beautiful garden in the previous post. She's one talented lady!
After a few days of cooler weather, it has warmed up here again, but I did manage to get out a few Fall items. I decorated my ever changing mantel (or mantle) to those who prefer that spelling :-)
I looked it up for anyone who might want to know, and according to Webster, both ways of spelling it are correct, although it is the first definition of "mantel" that refers to "the stone or shelf of a fireplace", but for "mantle" it wasn't listed until definition #4.
Okay my friends, that's my homeschool lesson for the day :-)
An old hymn page from my great-great aunt's travels.
I also received a couple of sweet gifts in the mail from Aubrey over at White Market.
This little Queen ornament  from Aubrey is adorable!
I'd recently done a post about her beautiful blog and all of the sweet items she makes, and she was so thoughtful and sent me these lovely gifts.
Sweet gifts from White Market.
 Thank you so much Aubrey!
I'm joining Kathleen over at Faded Charm for her White Wednesday blog party. If you get a chance, join in the fun.
My oldest son is having surgery on Friday, so if you think of it, would you keep Ryan in your prayers?
Thanks so much...
I hope you're all having a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Marcia

  1. The decoration on your mantel is so beautiful. I love the old glass bottles.

Marcia, you have 2 sons in college, haven't you? My oldest went to live in Germany last Sunday. It is not so far away, a 2-hour drive, and it is not the first time he was away for a week or two. He will try to come home every weekend. But I am feeling really sad, actually I cried the whole afternoon when he left on Sunday. I didn't think it would be so hard letting him go. I am really happy that I still have the other three at home. How do you cope?????

  34. in NorCal we're in the low 90's this week with the weatherman talking rain on Saturday. well, won't *that* be a steamy day! ugh. i have some autumny things out but i'm not one to go 'whole hog' over decorating for the seasons. just a touch here and there. boring, i know. your mantel is **beautiful**. how do you find the time to decorate while homeschooling multiple children?! i homeschooled *one* and barely found time to light a candle. :o)

i'm praying for Ryan right now so i don't forget on Friday. thank you for the opportunity to pray for your family.

  45. Love the gray frames... I inherited a couple of those & they're among my favorite things. Is the glass doorknob on just an everyday stick? That's an idea I'd love to borrow. Glad to read that your son is doing well :-)
